Dr Adrian Chan is a specialist in respiratory medicine and intensive care medicine with special interests in endobronchial ultrasound, asthma and adult allergy.

Dr Chan Kwok Wai Adrian is currently a consultant respiratory physician and intensivist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. Prior to this, he was a consultant at the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Singapore General Hospital.


Dr Chan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2006. He obtained the Member of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 2009 and went on to receive specialty training in Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine at the Singapore General Hospital. He was awarded the Singapore General Hospital Learning Scholarship in 2014 to pursue a Masters in Allergy at the University of Southampton. He was also awarded the Health Manpower Development Award in 2015 to pursue a clinical fellowship in Allergy and Asthma at the University Hospital of Southampton.


Dr Chan has expertise in the field of respiratory medicine with regards to bronchoscopic techniques such as endobronchial ultrasound and bronchial thermoplasty. He has been the supervisor to the Pulmonary Function Testing Laboratory, Singapore General Hospital from 2016 to 2020. In addition to general pulmonology, critical care and bronchoscopy services, Dr Chan has also covered the Severe Asthma Clinic, providing comprehensive evaluation and advanced therapeutics for this group of patients. 


In the field of adult allergy medicine, Dr Chan is well-versed in allergy diagnostics and therapy, such as skin allergy testing, serum testing, drug challenges, drug desensitisation and allergen immunotherapy. He headed the organising committee for the Singapore General Hospital Allergy Conference in 2017. 


Dr Chan is also a passionate advocate for clinical education. He has held multiple education- related appointments including Associate Program Director at Singapore Health Internal Medicine Residency, Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Clinical Lecturer at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Clinical Tutor at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. In addition, he gives lectures at Nanyang Polytechnic to advanced trainee nurses. He was awarded the Singapore Health Residency Outstanding Faculty Award in 2017 & 2018.


Despite his busy schedule, Dr Chan is actively involved in various professional committees, including secretary and executive committee member for the Singapore Thoracic Society, as well as executive committee member for the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Society of Singapore. As a keen advocate for patient education, he is also the current vice-president of the Asthma and Allergy Association of Singapore.
